RESUME

John and Misty have been square and round dancing collectively for more than 60 years. John started square dancing in 1968 with his parents and 8 brothers and sisters. He and his family are featured in the centerfold of the December 1969 issue of American Square Dance Magazine. He started round dancing in 1994 when Misty started teaching him. Misty has been round dancing since she was 2 years old (according to her mother). Her grandparents were round dance teachers (George and Wanda Jones) and her parents and other grandparents are also dancers. Misty started square dancing in 1989 about the same time she started cueing and teaching.

John and Misty met at a square dance club in Missouri. At the time they were both stationed in the Army there at Fort Leonard Wood. They fell in love and married in March of 1995. John retired from the Army after 23 years and moved him and Misty to Alabama. Currently, John is an Air Traffic Controller for the Army at Fort Benning, Georgia. Misty works in Montgomery, Alabama for the Air Force on Gunter Air Force Base as an Information Technology Specialist. Next year, John is going to quit working and attend college full time. John still doesn't know what he wants to be when he grows up.

John and Misty can cue/teach all phases or dancing. They are members of Roundalab, the Dixie Round Dance Council (DRDC), and the Georgia Round Dance Teachers Association. They have cued/taught at national conventions, the Illinois State Convention, the Georgia State Convention, the Alabama State Convention, the Missouri State Convention, DRDC, the Northwest Florida Convention, the National Singles Convention and several other special weekends and one night stands.
